The original was most definitely a cult movie that became a classic, but at its heart there was a story that was tailor made for a musical adaptation and equally contained poignant and sadly timeless themes.
The 2007 film, "Hairspray", is a remake of John Waters' 1988 film of the same name. Set in Maryland's largest city, Baltimore, the film follows the loveable, plump Tracy Turnblad, whose dream it is to become a famous dancer.
