Richard Brooks est un réalisateur, scénariste, producteur et romancier américain, né le 18 mai 1912 à Philadelphie et mort le 11 mars 1992 à Beverly Hills. Si les années 1950 et 1960 furent numériquement les plus prolifiques de sa carrière de réalisateur, il continua à tourner des films jusqu'au milieu des années 1980.

Richard Brooks (1912-1992) was an Oscar-winning screenwriter and a versatile filmmaker who made serious and acclaimed movies such as Elmer Gantry, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and In Cold Blood. He also wrote novels, directed plays, and had a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
