I doubt it means the FT because it would be too obscure. I think people in the media now often refer to it jokingly as the pink ''un but that probably wasn''t a common reference back in the 1920s.

Only to find that I could simply head to the Evening News or Eastern Daily Press website to read the article I wanted.
