George VI, né Albert Frederick Arthur George le 14 décembre 1895 à Sandringham et mort le 6 février 1952 en ce même lieu, second fils du roi George V, est roi du Royaume-Uni et des autres dominions du Commonwealth britannique du 11 décembre 1936 jusqu'à sa mort.
Il va heureusement se ressaisir et, au contraire de son frère, va témoigner dans le restant de sa vie d'un remarquable sens de l'abnégation et du devoir. À son avènement, le nouveau roi adopte sagement comme nom de règne celui de son père, à la consonance plus britannique, et devient pour l'Histoire George VI.
