From all the answers, it's clear that using a masculine term (eg "guys") is considered sexist (see Leopd's comment), and using a feminine term (eg "gals") is also considered sexist (see The Raven's answer). 17 août 2017 · I agree with this. Capitalization is really a style issue, so it will vary by publisher. However, terms of endearment are practically a requirement of the romance genre: sweetheart, darling, beloved, dushka moya, mi corazon, agape mou, habibti, etc. (also some made-up alien terms); they are, in my experience, almost never capitalized by these publishers.

1 sept. 2016 · Since this is a men's gay magazine, it appears to be in reference to homosexuality, and maybe specifically male homosexuality. The term 'bum buddies' appears to have been in usage about 10 years earlier and becoming more ubiquitous during the 80's and 90's before being abandoned in the mid 1990's in favor of 'butt buddies'. 20 févr. 2023 · I believe the phrase was used heavily by Buddy Ebsen's "Jed Clampitt" character on the show Beverly Hillbilles, which ran from 1962-1971. Suspect that usage both predates the "Creem" useage, and would have been more widely seen in the USA. –
In Australia and New Zealand you'll hear any of the terms luv, mate, cuz, bro, darl, darlin, honey, sweets, cobber, dear, sir, ma'am and even on occasion buddy, you guys, jokers, blokes, sheilas, and so on. It seems to depend on the individual as to when and how these terms are applied.
