Zerelda Elizabeth Cole James Simms Samuel (January 29, 1825 – February 10, 1911) was the mother of famous outlaws Frank James and Jesse James.
Zerelda Mimms was the wife and first cousin of Jesse James, a notorious outlaw and gang leader in the American West. She married him in 1874 and had four children with him, two of whom died in infancy.
Zerelda James was the mother of Jesse and Frank James, Confederate sympathizers and outlaws. She lost a son and an arm in a raid by Pinkerton agents, but never gave up her loyalty to her sons.

Zerelda “Zee” Mimms James was the wife and first cousin of Jesse James. She was born July 21, 1845, to John W. and Mary James Mimms. Mary James was the sister of Jesse’s father. She named her daughter after Jesse James’s mother. Zee nursed Jesse’s war wounds in 1865 at her father’s boardinghouse north of Kansas City.
