Loyalty, Stockholm syndrome, fidelity to the idea of marriage be damned. So Pat, who I didn't mind in herself, gets no free ride just because of reverse sexism.

Still, one day, my dear departed Mom who also was a staunch Dem, pointed that out to me. I had never noticed it before because her husband's infamy so overshadowed everything else.
7 mars 2022 · There are two tour de force performances that I think got overlooked in 1995- Anthony Hopkins as the titular haunted 37th President and Paul Sorvino as Henry Kissinger. They should have won Oscars. Joan Allen does remarkably well as Pat Nixon, too. She rightfully deserved her nomination.

No, there were several, starting with the very first episode of the season where she and Ron Reagan are visited by Prince Charles and Princess Diana (played by Madonna) and it becomes very Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. There was also the parody of Back to the Future when Ron Reagan Jr hosted.

He was so sick with tuberculosis that the the senate had to pass a special resolution to allow King to take the oath of office on foreign soil. He'd gone to Cuba for the warmer climate in an attempt to recuperate.

After having watched the “All in the Family” episode, Judging Books by Covers (1971), the then president talks at length about the show and homosexuality in general. It’s sad, funny and offensive all rolled into one. He screws up several details about the episode.
With her interest in researching her roles to find their complexities, she probably found her ideal acting role here. The best portrayers of Pat--Carolann Page in the original production, Janis Kelly at the Met in 2011--play Pat as intellectually curious, but broken down by her complicated marriage and the demands of her job.
