5 févr. 2024 · Validated in knockout and cell-based assays. PHF-1 is often used to assess the progression of tau pathology in human disease and in the brains of animal models of tauopathy. The antibody recognizes tau in the brains of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other tauopathies, with little, if any, immunoreactivity towards control brains.

Paper after paper described how p-tau181, p-tau217, and p-tau231 specifically and sensitively picked up the disease, especially in its presymptomatic phase. 23 oct. 2023 · The trial’s primary endpoint is tau spread during E2814 treatment, measured by tau PET in the symptomatic cohort. Secondary outcomes in this group include change in a cognitive composite, amyloid PET, and CSF neurofilament light chain. In the asymptomatic population, change in CSF ptau217/total tau ratio is the outcome.
CSF total tau and p-181 tau were reduced by 60 percent in the higher-dose cohorts, and stayed low for six months. The reductions were consistently seen in most or all people in each dose group. Average ages were 70 and 73, respectively; in both groups more than half were men. After six months, people with neuro-COVID had 1.5-times more total tau and p-tau181, half as much Aβ42, and six times higher total tau/Aβ42 ratios in their plasma. Aβ40 levels were similar regardless of neurological symptoms.
