Filming for the behind-the-scenes documentary Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey began during pre-production on the 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. Various filmmakers and cast members involved in the movie were filmed and interviewed throughout the film's production.
Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey had its world premiere on March 14, 2016 at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas. It was subsequently included on the home video releases of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakensin April 2016.
