  1. 19 juil. 2018 · I am intrigued by 'to flink'. It seems to be rare and I have not found much about it on line. One unreliable entry in a Slang Dictionary (online) refers to 'a flink' as an 'idler', if I remember correctly. I suspect the meaning is that the surf breaks up on the coral reef in a desultory and lazy way, as it were, in the novel.

Or it could be that someone is pointing you to the Highest - or most noticeable - Peaks of a mountain chain, among many are others.

"At the sea" means by the sea waters when, for instance, we talk about seals or penguins, or about a tent put up near the sea water. "On the sea" is about something floating, bobbing on the sea water surface, like a boat or a buoy.
