The Dakota Version was released in the United States as an EP with several live performances recorded during the 1996 Dew Drop Inn Tour.
The Hey Jupiter EP received mixed reviews. Stephen Thomas Erlewine gave the release two out of five stars, writing that the EP was "worthwhile for dedicated fans" but otherwise unnecessary.
Comic Book Tattoo
A seven-page story inspired by "Hey Jupiter" was included in the 2008 anthology Comic Book Tattoo, a collection of short comics inspired by Amos' discography. "Hey Jupiter" was written by Leah Moore and John Reppion, pencilled and inked by Pia Guerra, coloured by Mark Sweeney, and lettered by Kristyn Ferretti.
TV performances
Amos performed "Hey Jupiter" on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on June 27, 1996, marking her fifth appearance on the program. She played the song on harmonium, accompanied by Steve Caton on guitar.
