The band formed in Dayton, Ohio, United States, in 1959 as the Ohio Untouchables and initially included members Robert Ward [3] (vocals/guitar), Marshall "Rock" Jones (bass), Clarence "Satch" Satchell (saxophone/guitar), Cornelius Johnson (drums), and Ralph "Pee Wee" Middlebrooks (trumpet/trombone). Clarence Satchell was a funk and soul songwriter, producer, and musician who co-founded The Ohio Players. He played saxophone, trumpet, and flute and co-wrote hits like "Fire" and "Love Rollercoaster".

23 juin 2021 · They were unable to resolve their disputes and the ensemble disbanded in 1980. Of the original Ohio Players, Clarence Satchell died at the age of 65 on December 30, 1995, Ralph Middlebrooks died on November 15, 1997, at the age of 78, Robert Ward died on December 25, 2008. He was 60.
