Sam Ash Music was founded in 1924, and was the largest family-owned chain of musical instrument stores in the United States, with 45 locations in 16 states. [ 3 ] [ 4 ] With corporate headquarters in Hicksville, New York , Sam Ash sold musical instruments, recording equipment, DJ and lighting equipment, and professional sound.
Sam Ash (born Samuel Ashkynase; August 21, 1897 – September 8, 1956) was a violinist, teacher, and entrepreneur, best known as the founder of the Sam Ash Music Store.
19 sept. 2023 · Sammy Ash, COO of Sam Ash Music, the largest family-owned music retail company in the US, has died aged 65. He was diagnosed with melanoma last year, a battle his family say he fought “quietly and courageously” until his death on 16 September.

Sammy Ash, COO of the family-run Sam Ash Music chain, died September 16, 2023, after a year-long battle with stage four melanoma. He was 65. Named after the grandfather who founded the company in 1924, Ash spent his working life with the stores beginning in 1973.
