Niels Henrik David Bohr (7 octobre 1885 à Copenhague, Danemark – 18 novembre 1962 à Copenhague) est un physicien danois. Il est surtout connu pour son apport à l'édification de la mécanique quantique, pour lequel il a reçu de nombreux honneurs. Il est notamment lauréat du prix Nobel de physique de 1922 1.

Bohr was also a philosopher and a promoter of scientific research.

Niels Bohr fut un pionnier de la physique atomique et nucléaire, qui reçut le prix Nobel de physique en 1922. Il développa la théorie de la complémentarité et contribua à l'organisation de la recherche scientifique européenne.

Ernest Rutherford avait avancé l’idée selon laquelle l’atome est composé principalement de vide.
