29 août 2024 · 5,610. Failing Barclays, you could open a current account online at another bank and pay the coins in at a branch. I'm thinking Nationwide probably more amenable. I have several current accounts. If I can find some old £1s in my drawers (!), I'll try at my local Nationwide (in the first instance) and let you know.
Unlike NatWest, Barclays, Lloyd's and HSBC, where your input into online banking actually links direct to a bank system and you are directly effecting the transfer, Santander doesn't. In short you input the transfer online, which sends an electronic message to one of their offices, which is then printed and added to a paper pile of transfers to be manually entered. So that's where the hold up is.
