Le Knock Nevis a été construit entre 1979 et 1981, endommagé durant la guerre Iran-Irak, puis remis à flot en 1991. Il était à la fois le navire le plus long (458,45 m) et le plus lourd (649 955 tonnes à pleine charge), doté d'une capacité de 564 650 tonnes de port en lourd (tpl).
Seawise Giant was a ULCC supertanker and the longest self-propelled ship in history, built in 1979 by Sumitomo Heavy Industries in Japan. She was damaged in 1988 during the Iran–Iraq War, repaired and renamed Knock Nevis in 2004, and scrapped in 2010.
