John Jay ( 12 décembre 1745 - 17 mai 1829) est un homme politique, révolutionnaire, diplomate et juriste américain. Il fut l'auteur des Federalist Papers avec Alexander Hamilton et James Madison. He served from 1789 to 1795 as the first chief justice of the United States and from 1795 to 1801 as the second governor of New York.
