James Fawcett is a neuroscientist who studies axon regeneration, plasticity and interfacing the nervous system with electronics. He works at the John van Geest Centre for Brain Repair Research and has published several papers on these topics.
Sir James Edmund Sandford Fawcett DSC QC (16 April 1913 – 24 June 1991) was a British barrister. He was a member of the European Commission for Human Rights from 1962 to 1984, and its president from 1972 to 1981, and was knighted in 1984.

Professor James Fawcett’s research interests include axon regeneration in the damaged CNS. He works in the inhibition of axon growth by inhibitory proteoglycans in the extracellular matrix. In addition work on how to increase the intrinsic regenerative potential of axons, using integrin engineering and local protein translation.
James Fawcett Integrins are adhesion and survival molecules involved in axon growth during CNS development, as well as axon regeneration after injury in the peripheral nervous system (PNS).
