While the path might seem to wander, Curiosity’s team never loses sight of their goal: to explore places that can answer questions about whether Gale Crater was habitable in the distant past. This map is composed of two layers: a grayscale Gale Crater map, and a true-color base map.
Curiosity’s scientific instruments are the tools that bring us stunning images of Mars and ground-breaking discoveries.
Curiosity's mission is to determine whether the Red Planet ever was habitable to microbial life. The rover, which is about the size of a MINI Cooper, is equipped with 17 cameras and a robotic arm containing a suite of specialized laboratory-like tools and instruments.
6 nov. 2023 · NASA’s Curiosity Mars rover used the drill on the end of its robotic arm to collect a sample from a rock nicknamed “Sequoia” on Oct. 17, 2023, the 3,980th Martian day, or sol, of the mission. The rover’s Mastcam captured this image. NASA/JPL-Caltech/MSSS.
