J.D. Program. Our J.D. program combines a thorough grounding in the law, practical skills development, substantive experiential learning opportunities, and a highly customizable curriculum.
Each Vanderbilt Law School first-year J.D. student must complete a graded, two-semester Legal Research and Writing course. The course primarily teaches students to plan, research, organize, and write legal analysis and advocacy. The second semester also introduces oral advocacy.
International Study and Special Programs. Vanderbilt-in-Venice allows students to study abroad in the rich cultural center of Venice, Italy. Taught by Vanderbilt Law faculty, courses cover topics in international law with intensive classwork augmented by outside experiences; the four-week program concludes in mid-June. Learn More About Experiential Learning. LLM-JD Transfer. Students enrolled in the LLM program at Moritz are eligible to apply to the LLM-JD transfer program upon completion of their LLM program. The Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) scores are not required to apply to the JD transfer program.
