Dans la mythologie grecque, Thalassa ou Thalatta (en grec ancien Θάλασσα / Thalassa - forme ionienne ou Θάλαττα / Thalatta - forme attique), c'est-à-dire « mer », est une divinité primordiale, fille d'Éther et d'Héméra (le Jour). Incarnant la Mer, elle est l'équivalent féminin de Pontos.

She was married to the Titan god of the sea Pontus, with whom she had ten children; nine of them were called Telchines and were considered the original inhabitants of the island of Rhodes, while the tenth was a daughter, Halia.
THALASSA was the primordial goddess (protogenos) of the sea. Mingled with Pontos (Pontus), her male counterpart, she produced the fish and other sea creatures. Thalassa was the literal body of the sea and in the fables of Aesop, manifests as a woman formed of sea-water rising from her native element.
