La Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) est, comme son nom l'indique, un programme qui regroupe des personnels de soins de santé et les pouvoirs publics dans le but de faire diminuer la prévalence (c'est-à-dire le nombre de personnes atteintes), la morbidité (c'est-à-dire les symptômes engendrés) et la mortalité liées à l'asthme.
Ce document présente les mises à jour des recommandations de la Société de pneumologie de langue française (SPLF) et de la Société pédiatrique de pneumologie et allergologie (SP2A) pour la prise en charge et le suivi des patients asthmatiques adultes. Il compare les différentes stratégies thérapeutiques, notamment l'association formotérol-budésonide à la demande, et évoque les points de débat et les limites de la littérature.
