23 oct. 2011 · 0. An "average" person is a normal person BY DEFINITION. "Normal" means "close to" average (in statistics), but plus or minus. It is this "plus or minus" part that allows "normal" to be NOT average. Even so, it would mean that the deviation from average is a "normal" or usual amount, and not "way out." Share.

Vernacular: refers to the native language of normal people, when a different language is used by some groups in society. So this is about different languages, not merely different registers or levels of formality. Usually, the non-vernacular language is used by the educated or higher classes, such as Latin until ca. the 19th century.
1 août 2011 · If people is referring to a community, cultural group, etc. then I treat it as singular. This indigenous people was subjugated by invaders from afar. I'll also note that used in this last sense, peoples (meaning multiple cultural groups, or what have yoU) is also valid and would then be plural.

24 mai 2012 · Instead of writing May-24, we simply change the “May” to “5” and write 5-24 or ⁵⁄₂₄. That way it follows the natural language order and so requires no mental gymnastics to switch things around when speaking the date aloud. Similarly “September 11 th ” gets written ⁹⁄₁₁, etc.
