18 juin 2005 · Fait divers seems to cover what is considered tabloid journalism in English but there is no one term in English to cover the sort of stories covered by the French term. It can only be defined in terms of its characteristics, such as, only locally important, possibly sensational, or in terms of what it is not, such as weighty and of general importance.

Feneon compiled faits divers for le Matin in 1906. He imbued this traditional form with an ironic and poetic wit, distilling dramatic narrative into three lines.

However, in the U.S. we don't have an exact word to translate all of what faits divers represents: they are often juicy, and unusual, about people, frequently about crimes or police matters.

16 nov. 2005 · La prononcitation du "t" final marque la distinction entre le verbe faire (to do/to make en anglais) et le fait (fact en anglais). Le "t" n'est jamais proncone pour le verbe faire, mais peu l'etre pour le mot fait (fact). Il en fait (to do) trop = pas prononce. En fait (as a matter of fact) , il est heureux = pronconce.
