  3. In 1948 Sinclair Oil established a 38-acre technology-oriented research facility for developing new products. By 1960, Harvey's population reached 29,071, with many residents employed by local industries. In 1966, Dixie Square shopping mall opened on the western edge of the city, providing space for 41 stores.

  4. Ingalls Memorial Hospital is a general medical and surgical hospital located in Harvey, Illinois, a south suburb of Chicago, Illinois. Ingalls is a secular establishment. In 2016, Ingalls completed a merger with the University of Chicago Medicine. Ingall's retains its own board and president but its corporate parent is now UChicago Medicine.

  5. Harvey was founded in 1891 by Turlington W. Harvey, a close associate of Dwight Moody, the founder of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Harvey was intended as a model town for Christian values and was one of the Temperance Towns. It was closely modeled after the company town of Pullman.
