The War Doctor is an incarnation of the Doctor, the protagonist of the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who. He was portrayed by the English actor John Hurt.
John Hurt played the War Doctor, a dark and violent incarnation of the Time Lord who fought in the Time War. He appeared in The Name of the Doctor and The Day of the Doctor, and helped end the conflict with the Daleks.
