Wales (Welsh: Cymru ⓘ) is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. It is bordered by the Irish Sea to the north and west, England to the east, the Bristol Channel to the south, and the Celtic Sea to the south-west. As of 2021, it had a population of 3,107,494.

Wales is bordered by England to the east and by sea in the other three directions: the Bristol Channel to the south, St George's Channel to the west, and the Irish Sea to the north. There are several islands off the Welsh mainland, the largest being Anglesey (Ynys Mon) in the north west.
