Jacinto Benavente y Martínez (Madrid, 12 août 1866 - Galapagar, 14 juillet 1954) est un écrivain espagnol qui a reçu le Prix Nobel de littérature en 1922. Il est l'un des dramaturges espagnols les plus importants de son siècle.

Jacinto Benavente y Martínez (12 August 1866 – 14 July 1954) was one of the foremost Spanish dramatists of the 20th century. He was awarded the 1922 Nobel Prize in Literature "for the happy manner in which he has continued the illustrious traditions of the Spanish drama".
Jacinto Benavente fut le principal représentant de la comédie bourgeoise, qui triompha sur la scène avant l'apparition des productions poétiques d'un Valle-Inclán ou d'un García Lorca.
Benavente is best known for such plays as La Gobernadora (1901) [The Governor’s Wife], Rosas de otoño (1905) [Autumnal Roses], and particularly Señora ama ( 1908) [The Lady of the House] and La Malquerida (1913) [The Wrongly Loved], two psychological dramas which take place in a rural atmosphere.
