With 2 million students at 116 colleges, the California Community Colleges is the largest system of higher education in the country; Board of Governors – Composed of 17 members appointed by the Governor sets policy and provides guidance for the 73 California community college districts and 116 colleges. California Community Colleges. The California Community Colleges system consists of 116 colleges, with a large number of additional campus centers and classrooms throughout the state. The colleges are spread over a wide range of geography, from mountains to coasts, and rural regions to big cities.
