Tim Berners-Lee, né le 8 juin 1955 à Londres, est un physicien et informaticien britannique, principal inventeur du World Wide Web (WWW, le Web) alors qu'il travaillait à l' Organisation européenne pour la recherche nucléaire (CERN) au tournant des années 1990. Depuis 1994, il préside le World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), organisme qu'il a fondé.

In 2004 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and received the Millennium Technology Prize from the Finnish Technology Award Foundation. In 2007 he was awarded the Draper Prize by the National Academy of Engineering.
