Frank Kevin "Tchallah" Reed (September 16, 1954 – February 26, 2014) was an American singer-songwriter. Reed was best known as the first replacement lead singer for the American vocal group The Chi-Lites. He replaced original lead singer and songwriter Eugene Record in 1988 after The Chi-Lites heyday. Career
Record left again in 1988, and new lead Frank Reed joined to replace him. Singer Anthony Reynard Watson replaced Reed later that year and the duty of lead vocals would alternate between Reed and Watson over the course of the next decade.

Sadly, group member Frank Reed, who, along with Anthony Watson, took over lead vocal duties after the retirement of Eugene Record, has died. Reed was a talented singer who joined the group at a difficult time and served admirably through years on the road. He will be missed.

Sometime Chi-Lites’ vocalist, FRANK REED died in Chicago on 26th February. He was aged 59. Reed joined the Chi-Lites in 1988 after leader Eugene Record went off to pursue his solo ambitions. Prior to joining the legendary harmony team, Frank had been in a group called Michigan Avenue.
