The most mystifying chapter from Brand X's already relatively opaque and messy history. As is known to fans, in early 1979 Brand X recorded a whole bunch of songs with different line-ups that were used to fill up the albums Product (1979), Do They Hurt? (1980) and Is There Anything About? (1982). The last of these was released two years after ...
Moroccan Roll (1977), Livestock (1977), Masques (1978), Product (1979), Do They Hurt? (1981). In 1982, a “posthumous” Is There Anything About? was compiled by Robin Lumley from studio outtakes but was described as “mostly rubbish” by the band members, including Lumley himself, as he looks back on it for this history of Brand X.
Review by Dave Connolly. Brand X is guilty of going through the motions on Do They Hurt? At this juncture in Brand X's career, John Goodsall and Percy Jones are the principal forces, with Phil Collins, Morris Pert, and Robin Lumley reduced to a couple of cameos.
