Whenever the form is singular ("hair") the singular form of the verb is used; when it is plural ("hairs"), the plural verb form is used: "Natasha's hair is long." "There are hairs on your coat."

Perhaps this is because the version I am familiar with has slightly different wording. Wolf: Little pig, little pig, let me come in. 3 mars 2013 · This is particularly true for adjectives like "curly" that don't fit exactly into the "shape" category of that 'Royal Order' that Paul linked to. However, that Royal Order is a good summary of ordinary word order. I'd be more likely to say "long curly blonde hair", but I can't tell you that "long blonde curly hair" is wrong.

It can be used similarly for things like thread, fibre, wool or wire. I'd go with 'strand' here - and 'lock' for when it has been cut off. Last edited: Mar 27, 2022.
