The Victoria Institution is the oldest secondary school in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is a memorial school, so-called because it was partly funded by public subscription intended for the erection of a permanent memorial to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887.

On Friday, 6 April 1923, the first V.I. Prefects - nineteen in all - were invested at a short but impressive ceremony that commenced at 3 p.m. at the school assembly hall at the old High Street premises. The place had been specially decorated and the platform was alive with green ferns.
