The group included Elbridge "Al" Bryant, James "Pee-Wee" Crawford, Vernard Plain and Arthur Walton. The group recorded a song, "Pecos Kid" for a label run by radio deejay Senator Bristol Bryant. [12] Shortly after its release, the group changed its name to The El Domingoes.

The award honors members of the group who contributed to The Temptations initial success, with special mention going to Otis Williams, David Ruffin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin, Dennis Edwards and Elbridge “Al” Bryant. Otis Williams says at the time, “The Temptations still stand today, not in spite of those who left us, but because of them.”
