The Federal University of Minas Gerais (Portuguese: Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, UFMG) is a federal research university located in the state of Minas Gerais. Its main and biggest campus is located in the city of Belo Horizonte , Brazil .
In Minas Gerais, the first institution of higher education, the School of Pharmacy in Ouro Preto, was founded in 1839. In 1875, the School of Mining was created and, in 1892, already under the Republican regime, the School of Law was established in the ancient capital of the state.
International visitors. Admissions & Aid. UFMG receives foreign students as part of mobility programs and memoranda of cooperation established with other universities. The students can attend UFMG for up to two academic semesters.
