Eddie Cheever, Jr. aura eu une longue carrière dans l'automobile, inégale selon les catégories. Eddie passe son enfance en Europe, plus précisément en Italie. Comme de nombreux pilotes, il commence sa carrière dans le kart, s'octroyant les titres européens et italiens de la discipline en 1973.
