Saxon was born in Brooklyn on August 5th, 1935, the son of the Calabria-born Antonio and Anna Orrico. He caught an early break as a male model (“ Modern Romance, all the Macfadden publications”), and, at the age of 17, was discovered by Hollywood agent Henry Willson, who also helped to launch the careers of Rock Hudson and Tab Hunter.

According to internet movie website IMDB, Saxon appeared in nearly 200 roles in the movies and on television in a career that stretched over seven decades since he made his big screen debut in 1954 in uncredited roles in “It Should Happen to You” and George Cukor’s “A Star Is Born.”
