David Herbert Lawrence, abrégé en D. H. Lawrence, est un écrivain britannique. Il est né d'un père simple mineur et d'une mère enseignante et poétesse, issue de la bourgeoisie. Devenu instituteur, il publie son premier roman, "Le Paon blanc" en 1911, suivi de "Amants et fils" en 1913, considéré comme largement autobiographique.
