Le château de Fotheringhay ou de Fotheringay était un château situé à Fotheringhay, dans le Northamptonshire, en Angleterre. Histoire. La motte castrale est probablement édifiée vers 1100 par le comte de Huntingdon Simon de Senlis.
Fotheringhay Castle, also known as Fotheringay Castle, was a High Middle Age Norman Motte-and-bailey castle in the village of Fotheringhay 3 + 1 ⁄ 2 miles (5.6 km) to the north of the market town of Oundle, Northamptonshire, England (grid reference).
Fotheringhay Castle is the remains of a large, medieval motte-and-bailey castle. The castle was built in the early 12th century by Simon de Senlis I, the Earl of Northampton who also built Northampton Castle.
26 févr. 2020 · Elle fut retenue captive en Angleterre pendant 18 ans, avant qu’Élisabeth prononce son ordre d’exécution. Elle fut exécutée le 8 février 1587 au château de Fotheringhay. Elle fut inhumée à l’abbaye de Westminster où elle repose dans la même chapelle que sa cousine Elizabeth I ère.
