Frédéric Passy, né le 20 mai 1822 à Paris et mort le 12 juin 1912 à Neuilly-sur-Seine, est un économiste et homme politique français. Membre de l' Institut et lauréat du prix Nobel de la paix, il a consacré sa vie à l'idéal pacifiste et a diffusé des idées féministes, abolitionnistes, sociales et libérales .
Frédéric Passy (20 May 1822 – 12 June 1912) was a French economist and pacifist who was a founding member of several peace societies and the Inter-Parliamentary Union. He was also an author and politician, sitting in the Chamber of Deputies from 1881 until 1889.
20 mai 2022 · Le bicentenaire de sa naissance est l’occasion de remettre en avant un de mes aïeux : Frédéric Passy, un honnête homme du XIXème siècle, un économiste libéral mais surtout, un humaniste progressiste et pacifiste, qui reçut en 1901 le 1er prix Nobel de la paix.
Frédéric Passy passa 50 années de sa vie à promouvoir l’arbitrage et la réconciliation entre les nations. Il devint l’« apôtre de la paix », en remportant le premier Prix Nobel de la paix en 1901, en même temps qu’Henri Dunant, fondateur du Comité international de la Croix-Rouge.
