Mott the Hoople est un groupe de hard rock britannique, originaire de l'Herefordshire, en Angleterre. Il est actif entre 1969 et 1976. Leur plus grand succès est une chanson écrite par David Bowie, All the Young Dudes. Depuis sa séparation, le groupe joue sporadiquement, se réunissant en 2009, 2013, et, comme annoncé en été 2018.

Mott the Hoople were a British rock band formed in Herefordshire. Originally named the Doc Thomas Group, the band changed their name after signing with Island Records in 1969. The band released albums at the beginning of the 1970s but failed to find any success.

For the uninitiated, Mott The Hoople were a five-piece British rock band in the 1970's, best known for their hits All The Young Dudes and Roll Away The Stone. They were formed in 1969 when Hereford band The Silence signed to Island Records and were paired with Shropshire lad Ian Hunter.
Après un concert tumultueux au prestigieux Albert Hall de Londres en 1971, le gang incontrôlable de Ian Hunter se voit infliger une lourde amende pour les dégâts causés, puis interdit dans de nombreuses salles d'Angleterre. Sans le sou, Mott The Hoople décide de se séparer début 1972, suite à l'échec cuisant de leur quatrième album. Deuxième vie.
