Gustavianum, Uppsala University Museum, houses the university's magnificent historical collections. Several exhibitions are shown in our museum building. The collections are also available to researchers and students at our collection stores.

Gustavianum is the oldest standing building of Uppsala University. It was built between 1622 and 1625, and was used as the main building of the university between 1778 and 1887. Since 1997, it has been used as the university's museum.

10 avr. 2024 · In the new Gustavianum, the collections are presented in a series of new exhibitions: The Anatomical Theatre, The University Art Collection, The Mediterranean Sea and the Nile Valley, Coin Collection, The University's History and the History of Science and The dawn of the Viking Age.
Gustavianum's history in brief. Gustavianum, which derives its name from Gustavus Adolphus, King of Sweden from 1611 to 1632, was designed to meet the University’s need for lecture halls and meeting rooms. It also provided space for a dining room, student rooms and eventually a library.
Le Museum Gustavianum est un fascinant cabinet de curiosités. Les étagères croulent sous les outils anciens, les oiseaux empaillés, les astrolabes, les crocodiles momifiés, les pierres exotiques et les créatures marines fossilisées.
