Michael Jerome Cooper (born April 15, 1956) is an American basketball coach and former player. He played for the Los Angeles Lakers during his entire career in the National Basketball Association, winning five NBA championships with the Lakers during their Showtime era.

Michael Cooper was a shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1978 to 1990. He won five NBA championships, eight All-Defensive team selections, and the Defensive Player of the Year award in 1986-87.

Michael Cooper played 12 seasons with the Lakers, winning five championships and earning five All-Defensive honors. He also coached the Sparks to two WNBA titles and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2024.
