James Frank McElwain [1] (born March 1, 1962) is an American football coach. He is the head football coach at Central Michigan University, a position he has held since 2019.

Jim McElwain is the head coach of the Chippewas, leading them to two MAC West titles and two bowl games in five seasons. He has a 39-year coaching career, including stints at Florida, Colorado State, and Alabama, and has coached several All-Americans and NFL draft picks.
