Steve Ovett, né le 9 octobre 1955 à Brighton, est un athlète britannique, pratiquant le demi-fond. Il a constitué, avec son compatriote Sebastian Coe, l'un des plus beaux duels de l'athlétisme. Il a emporté trois des titres les plus importants pour un Britannique, les Jeux olympiques, les Championnats d'Europe et les Jeux du Commonwealth.
A middle-distance runner, he was the gold medalist in the 800 metres at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. Ovett set five world records for 1500 metres and the mile run, and a world record at two miles. He won 45 consecutive 1500 and mile races from 1977 to 1980.
