Eugene Booker Record (December 23, 1940 – July 22, 2005) [1] was an American singer, songwriter, arranger, and record producer. He was best known as the lead vocalist of the Chicago -based vocal group The Chi-Lites from their formation in 1959 until 1973, from 1980 to 1988, and later making occasional guest appearances.

Eugene Record. US singer/songwriter, arranger and record producer, born Dec. 23, 1940 - died July 22, 2005. He was the lead vocalist of a Chicago based soul/funk group The Chi-Lites from 1960s to 1970s, when he decided to go solo in the mid-1970s. Then he re-joined The Chi-Lites again in 1980.
Eugene Record was the musical group's sole songwriter and lead singer. Record never collaborated with members outside his singing group. In 1968, the group meet with record producer Carl Davis and signed a contract with Brunswick Records out of Chicago.
