Toy Talmadge Caldwell Jr. (November 13, 1947 – February 25, 1993) was an American musician who was most notable as the lead guitarist and main songwriter of the 1970s Southern Rock group The Marshall Tucker Band. A founding member of the band, Caldwell remained with the group until 1983.
25 févr. 2023 · Toy Caldwell was a guitarist, singer, and songwriter for The Marshall Tucker Band, one of the most influential Southern rock bands. He wrote and sang "Can't You See", which became a country hit for Hank Williams Jr. and Waylon Jennings. He died of cocaine overdose in 1993.
In 1966 members of several such bands merged to form the Toy Factory, named after guitarist Toy Caldwell. The Toy Factory's constantly shifting line-up included, at various times, Caldwell, his younger brother Tommy, Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks, George McCorkle and Franklin Wilkie.

20 août 2015 · Toy Caldwell was perhaps one of the most underrated guitar players of the 70’s. He wrote and sang “Can’t You See”, among other The Marshall Tucker Band classics and contributed a great deal to creation of Marshall Tucker sound with his famous thumb pickin’ guitar playing style.
