George W. Wingate High School is a defunct comprehensive high school in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Wingate neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York City. It opened in 1956 and was closed down in June 2006 due to poor academic performance. The school was then divided into four small schools.

31 oct. 2023 · While George W. Wingate High School — a now-defunct high school with classrooms in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Wingate areas of Brooklyn — wasn’t his choice of school, he knew that if he ever ended up there, he would write for the paper. When he eventually transferred, he did.
Both Wingate Park and the Brooklyn neighborhood Wingate are named after him. George W. Wingate High School, a now closed public high school in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, was named for Wingate. The campus is now home to several schools in the New York City Public School system.
