25 janv. 2022 · The previously unrecorded Drone Mass was described by its composer, the late Jóhann Jóhannsson, as “a contemporary oratorio”. Written for voices, string quartet and electronics, it was commissioned and premiered by the American Contemporary Music Ensemble, aka ACME, who toured and recorded with Jóhannsson for almost ten years.

Conducted by Paul Hillier, the recording features Theatre of Voices and ACME - ensembles and artists who had all worked with Jóhannsson.

18 mars 2022 · Three years before his sudden death at age 48 in 2015, he finished Drone Mass, a kind of electroacoustic cantata for string quartet, voices and electronics which may be his finest work.
Jóhann Jóhannsson: Drone Mass. Jóhann Jóhannsson builds an extraordinary electro-acoustic work that examines the poetic resonance of apparently chance juxtapositions. This isn't a Mass, and it doesn't use drones in any familiar way.
